March 2021 Update

In accordance with the UKGov national lockdown the Dojo is currently closed.

We are planning to reopen the Dojo for U18s on 12 April, for adults on 17 May and for a full unrestricted return to judo from 21 June, as permitted by SportEngland and Britsh Judo guidance.

If you are interested in trying judo once we are able to reopen, please read the information below.

New starters are always welcome and we cater for children as young as 4yrs old. The first session is FREE.

We will lend you a judo jacket and belt each session for the first four weeks, all you need is a t-shirt and tracksuit bottoms or leggings (no zips or shorts) - you should also bring some flip flops and a full water bottle. If you decide to continue with judo you will need to purchase your own judo uniform, which we sell at reduced prices for members.

Judo training sessions typically consist of a gymnastics and fundamental movement based warm-up, followed by technical instruction and skill drills to practice throwing and grappling techniques and then some sparring.

You will receive a full welcome pack when you attend your first session with more information and feel free to ask Hayley, Peter or any of the other Coaches any questions you may have!

  • The first trial lesson is free for New Starters, then £5 per session for an introductory period of 4 weeks (after which New Starters are required to move on to the monthly club membership packages).

  • After the introductory period new starters are also required to join the British Judo Association (BJA membership provides insurance plus access to gradings and events).
